Mercy Health acknowledges Ministry of Sisters

31 May 2011

A gathering to mark the occasion of the Congregation withdrawing from St Vincent’s/Mercy Private Hospital.

A mixture of both celebration and sadness marked the end of an era of institutional Mercy ministry in East Melbourne, where many Sisters, along with senior management and staff gathered for high afternoon tea.

A graceful silver pendant crafted by Michael Lindell depicting the quality of mercy, specially commissioned by Mercy Health for sisters who had worked at Mercy Private Hospital, was given to each Sister present.

There was clear acknowledgement of the enormous contribution to the ministry of Health Care and Education on the site over 76 years.  A plaque to acknowledge the Sisters of Mercy will be positioned in the foyer of the Hospital.
